Terms & Conditions

1. Welcome to CD Sauce

By using CD Sauce, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you don't agree, that's totally fine — but you'll need to stop using the platform.

2. Why CD Sauce Exists (The "About" Bit)

CD Sauce exists because we were sick and tired of digging through opportunity shops and seeing the same CDs over and over again.

You know the ones. How many times can you see Michael Bublé or Enrique Iglesias before you lose hope?

Meanwhile, people everywhere have hundreds of great CDs sitting at home, barely played, ready for a new life.

At the same time, there are music lovers who:

  • Are tired of streaming services
  • Want to properly experience albums on real gear — hi-fi systems, stereos, maybe even a Discman (respect)

CD Sauce is a place for music lovers to trade, sell, and rediscover physical music. No algorithms. No "You might also like". Just albums, people, and good taste.

3. What CD Sauce Is (and Isn't)

CD Sauce is a marketplace platform. We connect buyers, sellers, and swappers — we don't run a record shop.

That means:

  • We don't sell the CDs ourselves
  • We don't inspect or grade items
  • We don't physically handle shipping
  • We don't judge your music taste (mostly)

That said, we're not hands-off when it comes to your money. When you buy, we hold your payment until the CD is delivered and only release it to the seller a few days later (see “How Payment & Refunds Work” below). We don't vet users or check IDs ourselves — but to receive payouts in Australia, sellers must verify their identity with Stripe, our payment provider, because Stripe is legally required to confirm who it's sending money to.

4. Accounts & Age Requirement

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use CD Sauce
  • You're responsible for keeping your account secure
  • Anything done through your account is on you

5. Marketplace Rules (Read This One)

This is a community marketplace. That doesn't mean "anything goes."

The basics:

  • No scams
  • No counterfeit CDs
  • No knowingly faulty or unlistenable discs
  • Be honest about condition
  • Be respectful — this is for music lovers

If you wouldn't buy it, don't list it.

CD Sauce may suspend or remove accounts that:

  • Abuse the platform
  • Mislead other users
  • Attempt fraud
  • Repeatedly break the rules

For full community guidelines, see our Marketplace Rules.

6. CD Quality Rating System (Use It Properly)

Every listing must use one of the following ratings:

Mint

  • Like new CD, cover, and case
  • No skipping
  • Looks and plays perfectly

Excellent

  • Used but not worn
  • No more than 2 visible scratches
  • 1 occasional skip
  • Case and cover clean and readable

Good

  • Well used and worn
  • Multiple visible scratches
  • Expect 2–3 skips
  • Case and cover readable with wear and tear

Fair

  • Heavily used and worn
  • Many scratches
  • Regular skipping expected
  • Case and cover readable but clearly worn

Be honest. Overselling condition helps no one.

7. Reviews & Ratings

By default, every completed transaction starts as a 5-CD experience (we use CDs instead of stars). That means:

  • Item arrived
  • It matched the description
  • No issues

If you leave 1, 2, or 3 CDs, you must leave a written comment of at least 25 words explaining why.

This keeps reviews fair, useful, and transparent.

8. Postage & Delivery

  • Sellers are responsible for packing and posting the CD
  • Buyers pay the shipping cost the seller sets — it's added to your total at checkout
  • Tracking numbers are optional but recommended

Once an item is posted, the rest is in the hands of the postal service — and that part we can't control.

9. Fees

Running CD Sauce costs money — servers, payment processing, and all the unglamorous bits that keep the lights on. We're not here to get rich.

To keep the platform alive we take a small flat fee on each sale: 50¢ from the buyer and 50¢ from the seller. Sellers set their own CD price and postage on top of that. If our fees ever change, we'll update this page.

10. How Payment & Refunds Work

Here's the bit that matters: when you buy, we hold your payment until your CD is delivered. The seller only gets paid a few days after delivery — so your money isn't gone the moment you hit buy.

If something genuinely goes wrong — the CD never arrives, or it's nothing like the listing — start by talking to the other person; most things sort themselves out with a quick message. If they don't, get in touch and we can step in and help arrange a refund.

We'll always try to be fair, but we're a small team: we can't referee every disagreement, promise a refund in every situation, or control what the postal service does once a parcel is on its way. We look at each case on its merits.

11. A Few Honest Caveats

We hold your payment to protect you, but there's plenty we genuinely can't check. We don't independently verify a seller's honesty, whether they truly own an item, or the real condition of a CD before it ships — we rely on people being straight with each other.

So use a bit of common sense, read the listing, and message the seller if you're unsure — especially while we're small and growing.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CD Sauce is not responsible for:

  • User behaviour
  • Lost or damaged items
  • Financial loss
  • Disputes between users

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
