House Rules · Keep It Fair

Marketplace Rules

Welcome to CD Sauce, a marketplace built by music lovers, for music lovers. These rules exist to keep things fair for everyone.

1. Be a Music Lover, Not a Jerk

This community runs on trust and good faith.

  • Be respectful in messages and reviews
  • Treat others how you'd want to be treated
  • Disagreements happen. Handle them calmly

If you're here to scam, mislead or stir trouble, this isn't your place.

2. Grade the Disc in Your Hand

Always list CDs using our CD Quality Rating System, and pick the grade that matches the disc as it is today.

If a CD skips, has scratches or is damaged, say it clearly.

Misrepresenting condition breaks trust and may lead to account suspension.

CD Quality Rating System

Mint

Like new disc, case and artwork. Plays perfectly.

Excellent

Plays perfectly. A few faint marks at most. Case and artwork clean.

Very Good

Plays perfectly. May have light scratches. Case or artwork may show wear — a scuffed case, a creased booklet.

Good

Plays through, occasional minor skip possible. Visible scratches. Case and artwork worn.

Fair

Heavily worn. Regular skipping likely. Case and artwork worn but readable.

3. No Scams, No Counterfeits

You must not:

  • Sell counterfeit or pirated CDs
  • List items you don't own
  • Send knowingly faulty or unplayable discs
  • Misrepresent what you're selling

If something feels dodgy, it probably is.

4. Ratings & Reviews Matter

By default, all completed transactions start at 5 CDs (we use CDs instead of stars).

If you leave:

  • 1, 2, or 3 CDs → a written explanation of at least 25 words is required

This keeps reviews useful to the next person.

5. Postage Is Your Responsibility

Sellers are responsible for:

  • Packaging CDs safely
  • Posting within a reasonable timeframe
  • Choosing whether to pay for tracking on a sale. We recommend it, especially for anything valuable, but it's your call and your postage price
  • Adding a tracking number on every swap. Both sides do, and the swap doesn't count as sent until they have

Buyers should understand that:

  • Untracked post is cheaper, and carries more risk
  • You can ask the seller about tracking before you buy
  • CD Sauce doesn't control postal services

6. Disputes: Keep It Human First

If there's an issue:

  1. Talk to each other first
  2. Be reasonable. Mistakes happen
  3. Try to resolve it fairly

If that doesn't work, reach out to us. Because we hold payment until a CD is delivered, we can step in and help arrange a refund when something genuinely goes wrong. We can't promise a particular outcome in every case.

7. When We Step In

CD Sauce may suspend or remove accounts that:

  • Repeatedly break rules
  • Mislead other users
  • Abuse the platform or community

We don't want to police the place. We will protect it.
